Honda key to finding girl's body
Sources say the car is the same one driven by the accused Michael Rafferty
By KRISTI SETTERINGTON AND RANDY RICHMOND, SUN MEDIA

In a release late Friday with connection to the Victoria Stafford case Oxford Community Police asked to speak with anyone who may have seen a blue 2003 four-door Honda with black spray paint over portions of it, shown in this undated police handout photo, in Woodstock or in Guelph. (HO)

WOODSTOCK -- Police trying to find the body of Victoria Stafford are looking for anyone who saw a car they suspect was involved in her abduction and killing.

Investigators seized the vehicle and are searching it for evidence of her slaying.

Sources say the car is the same one driven by Michael Rafferty, charged with abducting and killing the eight-year-old Woodstock girl.

The car is a 2003 Honda four-door, blue with black spray paint over portions.

Investigators hope someone recalls seeing the car either in Woodstock or the Guelph area.

Police said the vehicle may have been spotted in the Guelph Home Depot parking lot some time during the early evening of April 8.

"We feel the vehicle will greatly assist us in finding Victoria," Oxford Community police Const. Laurie-Anne Maitland said.

Investigators are also asking property owners within a 50-minute drive of Guelph to check their fields and report any suspicious or significant changes they notice to the landscape or familiar landmarks.

"Our focus remains on recovering Victoria Stafford to provide closure for her family," said OPP Det. Insp. Bill Renton, who heads the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Oxford police at 519-537-2323 or toll free at 1-877-537-6277, their local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
