LONDON, Ont. — Wild weather packing multiple tornado sightings and at least two twister touchdowns tore through the London region this afternoon, ripping a roof off an Elgin County house and flattening another home near Tillsonburg.

One tornado touched down in Elgin County shortly before 2 p.m., tearing a roof off the house as a woman washed her hair in the bathroom.

No one was hurt.

"She's shaken up, but she's fine now," said Elgin OPP Const. Troy Carlson of the 30-year-old woman who visiting her parent's home.

"It looks like it tore through the middle of the house. It ripped off the roof and tore off some of the walls."

West of Tillsonburg, in Oxford County, a man driving along Prouse Road said he saw a house "flattened" by a tornado that was also "ripping trees out of the ground."

Richard Smith, the motorist, said no one appeared to be hurt by the twister, which touched down about 2 p.m. He said he swung by the destroyed house and "I seen the elderly lady that lived there" outside.

There was also a report of a barn being destroyed north of the hit, but again no one was injured.

Environment Canada said there have been several reports of funnel clouds with the storm hitting several parts of Southern Ontario, delivering winds that have gusted up to 80 kp-h accompanied by 2 cm of hail.

"There's still some coming through from Michigan so it should continue this afternoon and evening," said meteorologist Peter Kimbell.

"They look quite impressive on radar."
