Area residents spotted 30 UFOs in 2008
By JON WILLING, Sun Media

Residents in the Ottawa area reported some bizarre incidents in 2008.

There were 430 reports of UFO activity across Canada last year, the most since 1989 when the Canadian UFO Survey started keeping track.

Ottawa and Gatineau residents together reported nearly 30 UFOs in 2008. Here’s a sample of what they saw:

  • Jan. 1, 12:30 a.m.: Reports of bright lights in Gatineau. One witnesses describes lights with “three-prong-like legs.”
  • April 6, 11:45 p.m.: Witness in Orleans sees two lights “chasing one another,” flying northeast.
  • May 5, 5:03 a.m.: Report of an L-shaped object that was moving quickly to the east, flew up, radiated fire, then disappeared over Ottawa.
  • May 30, 2:20 a.m.: Witness sees a star-like object move across the sky over Hull.
  • Aug. 8, 11:05 p.m.: A bright orange rectangular object is seen over Ottawa River from Aylmer.
  • Aug. 30, 4 p.m.: Two reports of a shiny triangular object in the Ottawa sky.
  • Oct. 5, 8:37 p.m.: Silent fireball reportedly flies across sky in Ottawa.

And according to reports chronicled on ufoinfo.com, at least three people in Ottawa have witnessed UFOs so far in 2009.
