Ottawa cyclists making slow recovery
By KENNETH JACKSON, Sun Media

One of the five cyclists mowed down last weekend in the west end hit and run will have to be in a back brace for approximately three months.

Hilary McNamee, 27, is expected to remain at the Ottawa Civic for another week, then two weeks in short term rehabilation at the Ottawa General, according to a facebook post by her mother Nancy McNamee.

“They then set up a team to get our house organized to get the rest of rehab at home, until she’s free of the back brace,” wrote McNamee.

Hilary McNamee was moved out of the trauma unit a couple of days ago and placed in a room with another one of the cyclists, Mark White.

Cathy Anderson was released from the Queensway Carleton Hospital on the weekend. Robert Harland is in satisfactory condition and Robert Wein was last listed in critical condition.

Sommit Luangpakham, 45, is free on bail. He’s charged with five counts of failing to stop at the scene of a collision causing bodily harm.

The five cyclists were run down Sunday, July 19 shortly before 8 a.m. near the intersection of March and Solandt roads in Kanata.
