CFB GAGETOWN, N.B. - The Olympic torch has arrived in central New Brunswick to a celebration at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown.

A five-gun salute and the cheers of hundreds of people welcomed the flame as it was carried through the base.

One of the torch bearers, Capt. Dave Nixon of Amherst, N.S., says he's proud to carry the torch and wear the maple leaf on his shoulder everyday.

The flame will arrive in Fredericton later today with Olympic silver medallist Marianne Limpert.

The massive torch relay began in Victoria last month and will make stops in every province and territory.

The flame will arrive in Vancouver on Feb. 12 ahead of the Winter Games.
