Two girls dead in Quebec house fire

Two girls perished in a house fire in Donnacona, Que., west of Quebec City, early Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009. (QMI)

DONNACONA - The bodies of two girls, aged 15 and nine, were found in the charred remains of a home in Donnacona, Que., west of Quebec City, after a fire early Thursday morning.

Quebec provincial police said the two smoke detectors in the house were not working when the fire broke out.

The fire was already raging when the first firefighters arrived at the home at about 1 a.m.

Seven people were inside at the time and the five survivors were transported to hospital and treated for burns and smoke inhalation.
