FORT ERIE — An 18-year-old Algonquin College student is dead following a collision on a slick highway road Saturday night.

Reilly Anzovino, of Fort Erie, was the passenger in a westbound Chevy Cavalier on Hwy. 3 when it spun out and broadsided another vehicle at about 11:37 p.m.

Anzovino was taken to Welland County General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Serious injuries

The driver of the Cavalier, also an 18-year-old woman from Fort Erie, was taken to the same hospital with what police described as serious but non-life threatening injuries. Her name has not been released by the OPP.

Police say the Cavalier spun into the eastbound lane where it struck a Pontiac G5. All three passengers — a 50-year-old male driver, a 38-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman — were taken to Greater Niagara General Hospital with serious injuries, none life-threatening.

OPP spokesman Sgt. Dave Woodford said the mix of ice and fog made for dangerous driving conditions Saturday night.

“With the fog, it creates condensation on the roads,” he said.
