Cold snap hits Toronto
By KEVIN CONNOR, QMI Agency

The City of Toronto has issued an extreme weather alert and is working to get homeless people off the street.

Street outreach workers are working on getting homeless people into warm places and have added 168 extra shelter spaces.

An alert is called when Environment Canada predicts a temperature of -15C or lower without wind chill.

People seeing someone they believe requires the assistance of an outreach worker during a weather alert should call 311.
