FORT ERIE, Ont. -- Strong. Enigmatic. Beautiful.
Those were just a few of the words friends used to describe 18-year-old Reilly Anzovino. The Fort Erie teen died Saturday after the car she was a passenger in collided with another vehicle on Hwy. 3 in Fort Erie.
"She was an overall amazing person," said Jennifer Padmore who, along with 18-year-old Josee Sylvestre, grew up alongside Anzovino.
The trio attended public school and high school together in Port Colborne.
"She was never in a bad mood, she never said anything bad about anybody. And she could light up a room, no matter what," said Padmore, 18.
In 2005, as student council president at Garrison, Anzovino and her friends helped to raise more than $1,000 for relief efforts in tsunami-stricken south Asia.
"Every kid she ever saw bullied, or downtrodden and disadvantaged, she always reached out to them," said her aunt, Theresa. "She had a real kindness about her."
Anzovino graduated in June and this fall had started fine arts classes at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
Her aunt said Anzovino and her friend were en route to a friend's birthday party when the accident occurred.
The driver was taken to the Welland hospital for treatment of what police said were serious but non-life threatening injuries. Unconfirmed reports have identified the driver as Anzovino's friend, Molly Fairgrieve, also 18.
Anzovino is survived by her parents, Tim Anzovino and Denise Kennedy, one brother, Kain, and other family members.
