One dead in Labrador house fire
By QMI Agency

When a bungalow caught fire in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Nfld., early Thursday morning, the mother inside saved her 12-year-old son by pushing him through the window, but it's believed her 21-year-old daughter never made it out.

Police confirmed Thursday afternoon that a body had been found inside the home.

The fire started at around 3 a.m. The mother was taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.

RCMP Sgt. Wayne Newell said the cause of the fire is unknown. However, he added there didn't seem to be anything suspicious about it.

Right before the fire started, Newell said the woman inside heard “a popping sound” from the electrical outlet in the master bedroom.
