OTTAWA -- Two people who allegedly robbed a Scotiabank and fled along the world’s largest skating rink probably should have brought skates with them for a speedier getaway.
Instead, the pair were arrested Monday while walking along the Rideau Canal skateway after police said a woman entered the Main St. and Hawthorne Ave. Scotiabank, brandished a handgun and demanded cash.
They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, but cops caught up with them on the canal.
Shannon Rhora, 27, and Christopher Millman, 29, of Ottawa face numerous charges, including three counts of robbery and using a firearm during the commission of an offence.
They both appeared in court Tuesday.
The handgun was later determined to be an air pistol, police said.
