Taxi driver killed in crash
By CHRIS DOUCETTE, QMI Agency

TORONTO - A taxi driver was killed in an horrific early morning crash on a highway in Etobicoke.

The cabbie was involved in a minor collision on the southbound lanes of Hwy. 427, near Eglinton Ave. W., around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

An SUV plowed into the rear of the taxi, when the driver got out to the vehicle to examine damage to his cab.

The cabbie was knocked flying into a concrete barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators reported they have a man in custody.

Police shut down a section of the highway and the off-ramp as they began investigating.

Anyone with information is urged to contact OPP at 416-235-4981, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
