OPP officer's uniform stolen
By TAMARA CHERRY, QMI Agency
An Ontario Provincial Police officer returned to his personal vehicle Thursday morning to find pieces of his uniform stolen, an OPP press release said. The officer had been parked at the commuter lot on the east side of Hwy. 400 at King Rd. in King Township before returning at 1 a.m., police said. His passenger-side window was smashed and a garment bag with a pair of black OPP uniform cargo pants and a black OPP uniform shirt was gone. Also stolen was a black duffle bag holding "a black OPP tactical style jacket, a pair of black tactical style pants and an OPP issued baseball style hat," the press release said. "The OPP are reminding the public that every police officer in the province of Ontario, whether on duty, in a uniform or plain clothes capacity or off duty, is required to carry a badge and warrant card (photo identification) and upon request, must produce this identification to prove that they are in fact a police officer," the press release said. Anyone with information about the uniform's whereabouts was asked to call York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423. |
