TRENTON, Ont. — Dental hygienist Bev Woods was welcomed to work Friday morning by a one-ton pickup truck crashing into the windows at Canex department store on RCAF Road in Trenton.
Woods, who runs the Leading Edge Dental Hygiene clinic, said the driver of the truck "seemed to be unconscious" when he left the Tim Hortons drive-through lane located at the other end of the Canex's parking lot.
"It looks like the driver passed out, hit the gas pedal, and went airborne across the parking lot before crashing into the window," said Woods. "It happened at around 8:35 when I came in to work. I was inside the clinic and saw him driving toward the building and he just didn't stop."
Woods said the driver was immediately taken out of the vehicle and transported to Trenton Memorial Hospital.
"After calling the 911 I ran out to see if he needed help," she said. "He was conscious when I got there. Then the firefighters and the paramedics took him out of the truck."
The Military Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
No details have been released regarding the driver's condition.
