Soldier remembered as 'a rock' for others
By HEATHER RIVERS, QMI Agency

Pte. Tyler Todd. (DND)

WOODSTOCK, Ont. - Pte. Tyler Todd's attitude towards life was "to live it to the fullest and live it now."

"He was a rock that others clung to when their own lives spun out of control," said Rev. Terry Dunseith during the funeral service at Plattsville Missionary Church Monday.

The 26-year-old Bright resident died on April 11, while on foot patrol eight kilometers south of Kandahar City, Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device detonated.

A member of the Edmonton-based 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, he was only weeks away from completely a six-month tour.

Todd's life was celebrated with a full military funeral Monday afternoon, with hundreds lining the streets of Plattsville, wearing poppies, waving Canadian flags and donning yellow ribbons.
