Senior RCMP officers – including deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners – have filed complaints against their boss, RCMP Commissioner William Elliott, with the government.

The complainants allege Elliott of “being verbally abusive, close-minded, arrogant and insulting,” the CBC reported Monday night.

Over the last seven days, as many as 10 deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners have taken their complaints on two separate occasions to the Prime Minister's Office, the broadcaster reported.

In one instance, Elliott is alleged to have thrown papers at another officer in a rage.

Deputy commissioners Tim Killam and Raf Souccar are reportedly among the complainants.

William Elliott, a career bureaucrat, was named the 22nd commissioner of the RCMP in July 2007. He is the first civilian named top boss of the force.
