By QMI Agency

WINNIPEG - A 50-year-old man who has a physical disability and uses a cane to walk was stabbed when he refused to hand over money to a suspect he encountered on a downtown street, according to Winnipeg police.

The stabbing occurred on Friday at 10:30 p.m.

The male suspect approached the man and demanded a small amount of money. When the victim declined he was stabbed, sustaining a serious injury to his upper body. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition, police said.

The suspect fled.

Police said the suspect is 30 to 40 years old and has a scruffy face. He was wearing all black clothing, including a baseball hat, shirt and shorts.
