Smoke from B.C. wildfires continues to drift east, affecting air quality as far inland as Saskatchewan.
Early Friday morning, Environment Canada issued an air quality warning for the southern part of the province.
The smoke from the fires has made its way from central Alberta to western Saskatchewan, the weather agency said, and the smoke is expected to move southeastward throughout the day Friday behind a cold front.
The smoke is expected to reduce visibility to one kilometre at times, and worsen air quality in southern Saskatchewan until Saturday.
In Saskatoon, residents woke to hazy skies and the smell of smoke in the air, according to local media reports.
On Thursday, parts of Alberta issued an air quality advisory as the wildfire smoke hit the province's skies. Earlier this week, the wildfire smoke prompted air quality warnings for Metro Vancouver and B.C.'s Fraser Valley.
