TORONTO - A Scarborough high school English teacher is charged with sexual exploitation of one of his female students, Toronto Police say.
The teacher at Agincourt Collegiate Institute on Midland Ave. near Sheppard Ave., arranged meetings with the teen through the Internet in July, Const. Wendy Drummond said Thursday.
“They arranged their dates and times through Internet ... three separate occasions,” she alleged. “They met and in all cases, met at the (suspect’s) home and engaged in inappropriate sexual behaviour.”
Police allege sexual exploitation because the suspect is a person of authority and the alleged victim was his student.
Drummond said she was unable to say how investigators were alerted to the meetings.
Peter Floro, 38, of Toronto, is charged with three counts of sexual exploitation,
Police said they fear there are other victims who haven’t come forward and urge that they call investigators at 416-808-3300.
Floro has been a teacher at Agincourt for the past four years.
He was a student at Victoria Park Collegiate and on the 50th anniversary reunion website, Floro wrote that he “was able to negotiate and associate with all the cliques and groups — athletes, rockers, musicians, academics, etc. I liked everyone and hope everyone felt the same about me. Fond memories of high school life, liked to have fun and laugh.”
On ratemyteachers.com, he received a number of accolades as a teacher from writers who claimed they were students who studied in his English class.
