Montreal man arrested for G20 damage
By QMI Agency
MONTREAL - A man suspected of causing damage during this summer’s G20 protests in Toronto was arrested Thursday by Montreal police. Juan Lepore, 28, has been charged with mischief over $5,000. Members of the G20 investigative team are en route to Montreal to return the accused to Toronto. Montreal police were unable to give more details on the circumstances of the arrest. Toronto police spokeswoman Wendy Drummond said the accused did not appear in any of the photos of people sought by police following the violence at the summit. She was also unable to give further details into the Montreal man’s arrest and the crimes he is accused of committing. “The allegations are he was involved with the G20 and he was charged with a mischief order,” she said. Drummond added the Toronto-based investigative team is still seeking a number of suspects in relation to the riots. At least four police cars were set alight during the riots in downtown Toronto on June 26 and stores were also vandalized. |
