Two men are dead after their small plane crashed and burst into flames shortly after taking off in the village of Lumby in the Okanagan region Sunday afternoon.
Family members watched as the plane took off and then tried to return to the Marble Lake Air strip twice. On the third attempt, the plane shook heavily and then crashed into a field that was owned by the family. The 53-year-old pilot and the 45-year-old passenger, both from Lumby, died at the scene of the crash.
RCMP said that there were heavy winds at the time and that the investigation is ongoing.
