$3.6 million cocaine bust at border
By QMI Agency

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. - A Brampton, Ont., truck driver faces charges after border guards discovered $3.6 million in cocaine hidden in a commercial truck at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge Wednesday.

"This is the largest cocaine seizure to date in the Port of Buffalo," said Joseph Wilson, Buffalo Port Director with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

"This interdiction demonstrates CBP's dedication to securing our borders and safeguarding our country from the dangers of inbound and outbound narcotics smuggling."

According to CBP, the driver was stopped at the bridge before crossing into Canada.

The driver appeared "extremely nervous" and was referred to secondary inspection, said CBP spokesman Kevin Corsaro.

Officers noticed the floor of the empty truck had been tampered with as it had non-factory screws.

The floor boards were removed and 97 vacuum-sealed bags of cocaine were found inside.

Charged with narcotics possession is Ravinder Arora, 29.
