Missing British newlyweds headed for Vancouver?
By Richard Zussman, QMI Agency
VANCOUVER – Mounties are optimistic the search for a British couple missing in northern British Columbia may soon be over.
Sgt. Rob Vermeulen said police have received “multiple solid tips” about the location of Ben and Caroline Davies.
The couple was reported missing after not checking in with family or friends while on a camping trip in northern B.C.
They were last heard from on June 22 when they called a relative from Smithers.
“We can’t explain why they haven’t contacted family,” said Vermeulen. “They may not know they have been reported missing.”
The couple was expected in Vancouver on July 4 and reported missing six days later. None of the tips have been confirmed, but suggest the pair are on their way to Vancouver and were seen as recently as Monday.
Vermeulen said they may have been caught up in road closures and decided to extend their trip. RCMP will follow up on the recent tips Tuesday.
Ben is described as 37 years old, 5-foot-11, 210 lbs. with short brown hair. Caroline is described as 28 years old, 5-foot-3, 120 lbs. with should-length curly brown hair and brown eyes.
The couple had no experience in British Columbia’s back country.
