Woman dead after car hits moose

EDMONTON - A woman is dead after a northern Alberta collision between a car and a moose.

Police were called to the crash Wednesday at 11:16 p.m., near High Prairie.

A 1993 Dodge Spirit heading north with two people inside was approaching a curve when a moose darted out from the west ditch and slammed into the car.

The passenger, Shoreen Marilyn L'hirondelle, 50, was seriously hurt in the crash and was pronounced dead in hospital.

The 45-year-old man driving the car was taken to hospital as well.

Police are looking for witnesses to the crash.

The investigation continues.
