Arbitrator rules in favour of Air Canada contract offer
By QMI Agency
MONTREAL - An arbitrator has ruled in favour of Air Canada by choosing to enforce the airline's latest contract officer to its machinist union.
Air Canada announced Sunday afternoon through a news release that the arbitrator's selection of the airline's offer "concludes" a new collective agreement with members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).
The contract negotiations lasted 14 months and Air Canada said the new agreement runs until the end of March 2016.
The IAMAW represents 8,600 mechanics, baggage handlers and cargo agents employed by Air Canada.
QMI Agency was not immediately able to reach the IAMAW for comment on Sunday.
