TORONTO -- A toddler cried out in pain after a stray bullet grazed her leg, which was dangling from the window of a parked car.
The two-year-old was with her mom at a family barbecue Saturday night in the city's north end when she was hit, Toronto Police Staff-Sgt. Ken Boyle said.
"All of a sudden, she started crying," Boyle said, adding the toddler's mother spotted a wound on her leg.
the girl was taken to the hospital where it was determined the injury was from a bullet.
"It looks like it was a random round of gunfire from somewhere," Boyle said, noting police don't know where the shot came from.
He added there were no other shootings were reported in the area.
"Sometimes people just fire bullets into the air," Boyle said. "Maybe someone was shooting at someone else and missed, but we're not aware of that."
The girl required a couple of stitches and was released from hospital, Boyle said.
