By QMI Agency

Tim Hortons will offer free Wi-Fi at most of its stores in Canada by September, the restaurant announced Thurs., July 5, 2012. (Tim Hortons/HO)

Tim Hortons, in its ongoing battle to lure customers from other coffee chains, will soon introduce a Starbucks staple: free Wi-Fi.

The Canadian coffee giant has announced it will roll out Bell wireless Internet to 90% of its stores, more than 2,000 locations, by September.

"It's all about convenience and making life easier for our guests," Roland Walton, chief operations officer of Tim Hortons, said in a statement Thursday.

Starbucks has offered complimentary Wi-Fi at its Canadian locations for two years.

McDonalds, a relatively new competitor in the speciality coffee market, has had free hot spots at more than 100 stores in Canada since last year.
