Someone in Quebec is $50 million richer today.

After the massive jackpot went unclaimed for the last three weekly draws, it was finally won Friday night.

Lotto Max made history by setting a new Canadian lottery record with a total of $100 million in prizes.

"It's a real new benchmark," Andrea Marantz, a spokeswoman with the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, told QMI Agency last week. "It's never happened in Canada before so it's pretty exciting."

Marantz said Friday's draw included a $50 million jackpot -- the highest permitted with Lotto Max -- plus 50 individual $1 million Maxmillions prizes.

Normally the number of Maxmillions available is based on ticket sales, but this week there are 50 guaranteed, she said.
