Father, two children die in Quebec fire
By QMI Agency

WARWICK, QUE. — Police say a garage fire that killed a father and his two children early Tuesday was deliberately set.

The father's name was Jocelyn Marcoux and he had a young boy and a girl.

The fire started around 3 a.m. in the garage and the three bodies were found in a car parked just outside.

Provincial police have taken over the investigation and said the fire was no accident.

"It's clear that it was a fire that was very violent," spokesman Richard Gagne said. "Fire accelerants were certainly used."

The children's parents were separated. A woman who said she knew the family and who didn't want to be named, said the father was worried about losing full custody of his children.

"He doesn't deserve any judgment," she told QMI on Tuesday. "He was an excellent father to those kids."

Marcoux, 47, allegedly posted a letter on Facebook shortly before the garage fire. The letter alleges the kids suffered trauma with their mom, and she was expected to regain some custody of them.

"The lying words of the mother are stronger than mine!!!!!" the letter reads. "If you don't get justice yourself you will never have justice!!!!"

QMI has learned the mother, who is from the Quebec City area, found out about her children's deaths on the news.

Warwick is located halfway between Montreal and Quebec City.
