Mother fights against children being buried next to father

WARWICK, Que. -- The mother of two children believed to have been killed by their father said she will fight to keep them from being buried with him.

"My kids will never be buried next to him," Nadine Brillant told QMI Agency on Wednesday.

Police have suggested the tragic death of a father and two children was likely a murder-suicide brought on by a custody battle. Firefighters on Tuesday morning found the charred bodies of Brillant's former husband, Jocelyn Marcoux, and their two children, Karen 11, and Lindsey, 13, among burnt rubble in back of a home in Warwick, Que., about 150 km northeast of Montreal.

Provincial police told QMI that it appears Marcoux killed his kids before killing himself.

Brillant said that she doesn't harbour ill will towards her late ex-husband's family.

"I hope that the people in his family will understand my desire to take my kids back," she said.

For Marcoux, however, Brillant said she will never forgive him. She called him "a narcissist" who refused to share custody of their children with her.

"I guarantee that he will no longer have control and that my kids will be given back to me."
