SUDBURY, ONT. - Two men were arrested Saturday morning for allegedly shooting into moving vehicles on an Ontario highway on Friday near Sudbury.

The pair were nabbed in the French River-Alban area, about 65 km south of Sudbury, after a manhunt lasting nearly 24 hours.

They will likely face break and enter, property and gun charges, OPP Const. Shawn Fougere.

Fougere said the OPP will not be releasing the names of the suspects until charges have officially been laid. The men are both in their 20s.

The hunt began yesterday afternoon, after a break and enter at a nearby cottage. Afterwards, gunman started shooting at passing cars on Hwy. 607.

"No one was injured, which is really good because they were shooting into moving cars with people in them," said Fougere, estimating they shot at between six and eight cars.

Lise Dionne was coming home from work around 3 p.m. Friday when she saw a man standing on the highway, holding a rifle. He was also wobbling, she said.

“I drove right by him. He lifted the gun up. I don't know if he lifted to shoot or to show me he had a gun, but let's put it this way: I didn't stick around to find out,” she told QMI Agency. “I drove a little ways and then called 911.”
