NIAGARA FALLS -- Marineland has been ordered to secure empty mobile homes in the vacant Green Oaks Trailer Park it owns after two units were set on fire early Saturday morning.

After extinguishing the fires that destroyed two of the abandoned trailers, the Niagara Falls Fire Department inspected the property Saturday morning and posted a notice that repairs were to be made within 24 hours.

The notice said the empty park was in violation of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act because it had failed to secure vacant buildings against unauthorized entry.

The Green Oaks Trailer Park has been empty since March 31, 2011, when it closed amid controversy and the death of its final resident.

Marineland owner John Holer bought the mobile home park about eight years ago, and in February 2009, he issued eviction notices to the park's 47 families, saying he wanted to use the land to build a maintenance facility.

On the final day tenants were given to leave, the last tenant, Paula Millard, was found dead in her trailer after taking her own life.

Fire Prevention Officer Kelly Kubik inspected the site Saturday morning and found fire code violations.

"The danger is vandals getting there and setting them on fire," Waters said. "It's a danger to the public because they're unsecured and it's a danger to us."

Calls to Holer's Chippawa home were not returned over the weekend.
