A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of B.C. Wednesday night — the second to hit the area in recent weeks. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, it hit at 6:01 p.m. near Vancouver Island, about 186 km from Port Hardy. Nobody was harmed and there are no reports of damage. This follows a 7.7.-magnitude quake on Oct. 28 that caused numerous tremors and had the region on tsunami alert for a short period. It caused minor damage on the Haida Gwaii island chain off B.C.'s northern coast. |
