Two workers burned in Bombardier factory blast

VALCOURT, Que. — Two workers at a Bombardier Recreational Products plant were seriously burned early Friday in an explosion at the facility east of Montreal.

Police reported a fireball at about 12:30 a.m. at the research centre for snowmobiles and other vehicles.

A fire was raging when authorities arrived on the scene in Valcourt.

Sources told QMI Agency that natural gas might have ignited.

Two men, aged 38 and 54, were transferred to a Quebec City hospital where they were being kept in medically induced comas.

The injured are a Bombardier employee and a private security guard.


Provincial police are investigating.
