Worker burned in Bombardier plant blast dies
By QMI Agency

An explosion occurred on Friday Nov. 9, 2012, at Bombardier Recreational Products in Valcourt, Que. (MAXIME LANDRY / QMI AGENCY)

VALCOURT, Que. — One of two workers severely burned in a factory blast last week has died.

Sebastien Tardif, a 38-year-old father of two, was injured Friday in an explosion at Bombardier Recreational Products in this town located about 130 km east of Montreal.

The vehicle tester and a security guard were working the night shift when police officers several kilometres away saw a fireball.

A fire was raging when they arrived on scene.

Tardif was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Bombardier says the security guard, a man in his 50s, remains in a Quebec City burn unit.

The factory is a research site for jet skis and ATVs.

Provincial police are investigating.
