T.O. elementary teachers to strike Tuesday
By Shawn Jeffords, QMI Agency

Elementary and junior high school teachers at the Toronto District School Board will hit the picket lines Tuesday. Board spokesman Shari Schwartz-Maltz confirmed that teachers have been notified by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) that the one-day strike will take place next week. The TDSB had “all kinds of e-mails coming in, (and) teachers telling us” the strike was moving forward, she said Thursday evening. As a result, 474 elementary and junior high schools in Toronto will close for the day. That means 173,000 students won’t be in class Tuesday.
