Marineland graves under inspection
By Matt Day, QMI Agency

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. -- The Ontario Ministry of the Environment said its inspection Thursday of Marineland's animal internment site was just a start. On Friday inspectors will really get down to work.

Ministry spokeswoman Kate Jordan said at least one official visited Marineland to do a visual inspection and to respond to reports the marine-animal theme park was burying its animals on the property.

"We interviewed the owner (John Holer) and company officials … who did confirm there had been dead animals buried at the site," Jordan said, adding the ministry previously didn't know Marineland buried its own animals instead of sending them to a landfill – another common method of disposal.
