Police say the car plunged in the Tracadie River in northeastern New Brunswick after sliding off an icy, unserviced dirt road in the woods.

The victims were 17-year-old Marie-Hélène Gauvin of Pointe Canot, 18-year-old Tommy Losier of Ste-Rose, 19-year-old Brian Basque of Ste-Rose and 20-year-old Alexandre McGraw of Losier Settlement.

Their bodies were discovered inside the vehicle by an RCMP Underwater Recovery Team Saturday afternoon.
