EDMONTON - Arson investigators have been called in following a massive multimillion-dollar blaze that levelled a north side restaurant early Christmas morning.
The city said a pickup truck was driven into the front of the Bonanza Buffet Restaurant just after 1:50 a.m. Tuesday. The truck remained in what was once the front entrance of the restaurant, its top ripped off.
Chrystal Coleman, a spokeswoman with fire rescue services, said crews are unsure if the driver had been accounted for, or if the wreck sparked the blaze.
Just before 3 a.m. the blaze was upgraded to a three-alarm fire, with about 80 firefighters struggling to gain control of the flames.
