CALGARY - Scott McDowell and his family are devastated and outraged after three pit bulls severely attacked two of their dogs, killing one and injuring his daughter at an off-leash park.

On Monday, McDowell's daughter Shanese Best, 13, and his son Johnathan McDowell, 14, took five-year-old Pomeranian, Patrick, four-year-old boxer, Leila and eight-month-old Great Pyrenees, Maximus, to an off-leash dog park near Millican-Ogden outdoor pool.

After the dogs barked back at three nearby pit bulls being walked by one man, they ran over to the canines, he said.
