HALIBURTON, Ont. — Police believe five wolves escaped from a wildlife reserve in Haliburton, Ont., after vandals damaged the compound around the 15-acre wolf enclosure on New Year’s Eve.

Police went to the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve on Tuesday morning to investigate the mischief at the reserve’s Wolf Centre. Haliburton is located about 215 km northeast of Toronto.

Police believe vandals damaged the compound sometime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, allowing five wolves to leave the enclosure and enter the surrounding forest.
