An Indian-Canadian woman missing in Pakistan since August was killed by a man who owed her money, the Lahore High Court was told Wednesday.

Rajvindar Kaur Gill, 41, disappeared shortly after arriving in Lahore on Aug. 25, Indian and Pakistani media report.

Her body has not been found.

Police were ordered to provide court with an update into their investigation after Gill's father, Sikandar Singh Gill, appealed to authorities, reports the Indian Express.

Police have one suspect in custody, who they say has confessed to committing the murder after promising to pay Gill back when she arrived in Lahore.

Police said he had an accomplice — his cousin, a German national of Pakistani origin.

The two men picked her up at the airport, sedated her, strangled her and dumped her body in a canal, according to the confession cited by Pakistan's Express Tribune.
