SARNIA, ONT. - Provincial police have confirmed the body found Wednesday morning in a woodlot outside this southern Ontario city is that of Noelle Paquette, 27.
She went missing after she left a local New Year's Eve party after 2 a.m.
Her death is being treated as suspicious pending the results of an autopsy.
Her disappearance led to a massive police-organized search party.
Police continue to search the woodlot and its surrounding area for evidence.
Paquette had been covering a maternity leave at a Sarnia Catholic school, teaching a kindergarten class.
“I was blessed to be able to see her in action at St. Matthew's, and the children's faces spoke louder than words to the kind of person Noelle is,” Tiffany Branton wrote on the Facebook page Prayers for Noelle Marie Paquette. “You knew by looking at them that Noelle was always going to be 'that teacher' who they always remember throughout their lives.”
Miranda Grover also praised Paquette's ability.
