The family of a Quebec man found dead in Haiti last week claim his death is suspicious and warned Canadians against travelling to the country.

Haitian authorities told Quebec's provincial police that Patrice Lafond, 62, died of natural causes, his sister, France, said.

She said Quebec police told her that her brother was found dead in a hotel room in the Haitian capital on Dec. 29.

But she said she thinks his death is far from natural.

"We don't have any more information than that," France told QMI Agency, in an interview. "(Haitian authorities) probably think it's a natural death because he had no marks on his body ... but we will never know the truth."
