Fraudster comes calling at Edmonton home

EDMONTON - It took just seconds for a fraudster to squeak his way into the home of 31-year-old Flora Chan.

With a suspect still on the loose, she worries some of her older neighbours might not see through his grand tales.

Chan says she was at her west-end home Dec. 30 watching a movie with her younger cousins.

Around 12:30 a.m, she says she heard a knock at her door. Her doorbell doesn’t work, so she says usually visitors knock on the screen door and wait for her to come out.

When she opened the door, the man had already opened the screen door, and before she knew it, he was inside.

“The one thing that scared me the most, looking back on it, was that as soon as I opened the inside door, he was in the house,” she said.

“As soon as I opened the door on my side, he slipped himself into the foyer. There was absolutely no way for me to stop him.”
