Zellers doesn't want to be Canada's Facebook friend anymore, but customers are taking the opportunity to vent about everything from rude clerks to not-so-great "liquidation" prices before the company shuts down its page for good Monday.
"We want to thank everyone for participating with us and supporting the Zellers Facebook site over the past year. Please note that Monday, Jan. 21 will be the final day our page will appear," the store posted Friday morning.
Zellers announced earlier this month that three stores will remain open under that name (in Toronto, Montreal and Surrey, B.C.), while the remainder will close by March 13, most destined to be converted into Target stores.
A flurry of comments immediately followed, many thanking the retail chain and expressing regret about its closing.
But others reacted like an unfriended ex, posting their grievances.
"They re-ticket everything in the store, sometimes double the old price, and then give 20 and 30% off. What a joke!" Wayne Helliar said.
"Liquidation...yea right. I can get items cheaper anywhere," groused Diane Camp.
"Wow, the woman last night was so rude and accusing that I just left my items on the counter and walked away," Lisa M Boomhour posted.
Not everyone was disappointed, however.
Pet lover Nancy Maxwell wrote, "I got a fantastic buy on cat food last week!"
