Snow and freezing rain in southern Ontario are making for dangerous driving conditions Monday.

"Snow began across southwestern Ontario Sunday night and continued to spread into the Greater Toronto Area by the early morning hours on Monday," Weather Network meteorologist Gina Ressler said in a statement. "As temperatures rise Monday, snow will gradually change over to ice pellets, freezing rain and rain making for slippery conditions on untreated roads."

Officials are urging drivers to be careful on the slippery roads.

"Model guidance suggests that 5-10 cm of snow is possible in southern Ontario on Monday before changing to rain, most likely in a swath from Grey-Bruce County to Kingston," Ressler said. "However, since we're dealing with multiple precipitation types, those totals could change."

Environment Canada has issued freezing rain warnings for huge swaths of southern Ontario and southwestern Quebec.

Toronto's Pearson International Airport cancelled some 120 flights Monday morning. Some Toronto schools were also closed.
