Sunwing won't have its wings clipped come end of March.

The union representing 900 flight attendants reached a tentative agreement with the Toronto-based discount airline Friday morning, thus averting a forecasted strike at the end of next month.

The agreement will be submitted to members for a vote following a round of general meetings in March. If accepted, this will be the first collective agreement for Sunwing flight attendants, who voted to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees last year.

"We believe that we achieved our objective: the union's first collective agreement, which definitely will improve salaries and working conditions. Of course, the flight attendants will have the final say on what happens next," CUPE spokesman Mark Brancelj said in a statement.
