CALGARY - As families across the province make the most of a government-sanctioned day off in their honour, the tired and embattled Kosmacks see light at the end of the tunnel.
In 2008, Pamela Kosmack was strangled and beaten to death. She was so badly beaten the coroner told the family a cremation was the only option for a service.
A young mother of two, struggling with addiction, raised in a hard part of town and sexually abused by a member of her own family — someone who needed a break, to be cut some slack, was instead rolled under by the steamroller of vicious dominance, made a statistic and labelled a sex trade worker.
