TORONTO — Toronto Mayor Rob Ford found out Friday he could be going to the Supreme Court of Canada to keep his job.
Clayton Ruby, the lead lawyer representing Toronto resident Paul Magder, announced he has filed a request to seek leave to appeal to the Supreme Court.
Ford shrugged off the news.
“I have no control over that,” Ford told QMI Agency. “I’m just continuing on. I consider the issue closed but obviously they don’t so if they want to go to the Supreme Court all the power to them.”
In Ruby’s application, he argues the case raises “novel questions about the powers of municipalities to govern their affairs and to hold public officials to account for violations of ethical rules.”
